Are they really everyones cup of tea? Since we had our local supermarkets I have found that you can only buy what that particular shop wishes to stock.I want to buy a joint of English lamb.Sorry we only have New Zealand.I want to buy some English beef.Sorry we only have Irish.I want to buy English fruit.Forget it.It is the same if I wish to buy clothes that have been made in the U.K.No chance.

In its favour I find that the supermarket is ideal when we are on holiday on the "Broads" because nowaday's there are very few food shops in the area.Now at least we can stock up with food at Norwich,Beccles,Wroxham or Stalham.John.Leicester

Yes I think supermarkets are convenient for stocking up, but my gripe is getting fresh fruit and vegetables. We have recently moved to the area and have been getting fruit and veg from a couple who sell directly. It is so fresh - I had forgotten what fresh new potatoes taste like, tomatoes, carrots, apples etc. all taste so much nicer and fresher and last longer in the fridge. But my son came over from Berlin to visit us recently with his girldfriend and they said the supermarkets here are far superior to those in Germany, they said there is so much to choose from and the prices are better, so I guess it's very much what you are used to.
