A new exhibition featuring collections belonging to local people has opened at the Ancient House, Musuem of Thetford life.
Collectamania is the second of the museum’s ‘changing displays’ since it re-opened after a major refurbishment. The exhibition celebrates some of the collectors of Thetford and the surrounding area.
The exhibition showcases collections ranging from silver spoons, bells, Thetford postcards and commemorative mugs to Elvis collectables, circus memorabilia and heavy horse brass ‘swingers’ and bells. The exhibitors were recruited through newspaper and poster appeals and by word-of-mouth. The display explores topics such as why some people gather objects and how they build up their collections.
