Your feature on the best fish and chips in the area (June issue, pages 24-25) was very interesting and I think I'll have to try a few over the summer. However, I can't believe Lowestoft didn't appear on your map! If you really want some decent fish and chips, then you need to visit Billys Plaice in Pakefield Street - I don't care where you come from, there's nothing like them. Rembrandts serve the best fish & chips in the world - you'll find them near the Norfolk Showground at Easton. Just look for the water tower and you won't be able to miss it. The finest fish and chips I've ever had - and I've had them all over the world! My recommendation is a good old-fashioned plaice and chips with a pint of beer. Honestly, I've known some good fish & chips in my time - but Rembrandts beat them all hands down. Fins down, even.   Mick Rayburn      Report

I must say it was worth the wait tho, beautiful plaice and the wife enjoyed a jumbo sausage & chips too. I agree with the pint of beer with my fish, Adnams is my favourite from the feathers at woodbastick. Have you tried Barretts fish & chip shop in Hellesdon, finest in the city i'd say, although there is something about the chips on Norwich Market on a Saturday lunch time, beautiful. 18/06/2007, 2:45 PM Let's Talk! magazine Joined on 23/05/2007 Posts 16 Re: Miles from the coast, but miles better! talking about fish a chip shops try Mariners in Dereham you will not find better  we go there from  Easton freindly service fresh fish  chips cooked properly no hard ones or bad and the colour of the chips is as it should be batter is crispy not soggy as you get from some other chip shops i am very fusy  do not think rembrant is good at all chips are over done or not cooked batter is alldoughy  i woulg rather travel to get something i know i can enjoy  Mariners should be on the list you have not done your reserch.properly.
