Issue 79 April 2009, page 75.

I am responding to the photo 'friends from the sixties' who went to Alpington School. Charles Smith from Lowestoft submitted the photo. I am Jane Griffiths From Kings Lynn Norfolk, my reletives are in the picture, second row down 3rd along is Daphnie Gilbert who is my Auntie, and on the 3rd row are the twins Elieen & Elsie Gilbert. Elieen is my mother, unfortunatly Daphnie, Elieen and Elsie Gilbert have all passed away. I would like to hear more about the school days when you attended the school with my family members. Were they good little twins or were they quite a bit of mischief? I am in the phone book if someone wants to contact me about the picture, i am always happy to talk.

Hello Jane, I,m Charlie Smith,I sent in the photo with your relatives on at Alpington School. I remember the twins more than Daphne as they were about the same age as me.If I remember correctly they were a bit on the mischevious side, Elsie more than Eileen.

Did you know their brothers Eric and Ronnie they are on the back row together on the left on each side of Daphne.

Unfortunately, I can,t give you a call on the phone as I can,t hear very well. Incidentally opposite where they used to live at Yelverton is a road that I assume is named after them called Gilbert Close.

Hope this has been some help.                 Charlie.
