The Way We Were
Remember the old days of work and play?

For eight years, The Way We Were’s unique blend of captivating
archive footage and compelling true stories made it one of the most popular
local programmes on Anglia Television.
An eight DVD series capturing the highlights of the series is now available.
Armed
with authentic original footage, the producers of The Way We Were have tracked
down the real-life stories behind the films, the people who recorded or
appeared in them.
It is these personal interviews combined with the stunning original film
that makes The Way We Were such a pleasure to watch, giving us all an insight
into everyday life in our region.
The film included in the DVDs has been preserved by the East Anglian Film
Archive, and ranges from homemade recordings taken by local families to
remember the special moments in their lives, to films made by local businesses
or care institutions.
The eight DVD series spans Childhood, Schooldays, The Teenage Years, Love
& Marriage, Holidays, The Working Day, Celebrations and Royal Occasions,
and builds into an extraordinary, vivid and touching poignant record of
everyday life in East Anglia from the 1920s to the 1970s.
Among the touching stories captured on DVD are many from ordinary family
holidays on the coast to the lives of the Coke Family of Holkham Hall from
the 1920s – 1950s.
“I am really delighted that audiences are being given a chance to
see highlights from these very special programmes again” says series
producer Alison Starsmore.
“Over eight years, we have shared the memories of many families from
the region who have told their stories with great honesty, heart and humour.”
The Way We Were DVDs cost £9.99 each from local libraries,
selected local retailers including Jarrold and HMV or online at www.archivefilmshop.co.uk.
